How to Choose the Right Wig Length

How length is measured
Length is measured from the top of the cap to the ends when the hair is stretched straight. That matters because texture eats inches: a 22" body wave falls two to four inches shorter than a 22" straight unit, and curly can look six inches shorter.
Where each length lands
- 10"–12" (bob): jaw to chin. Sharp, low maintenance, great in heat.
- 14"–16": collarbone. The easiest length to wear daily and the quickest to style.
- 18"–20": mid-chest. The most popular range — long enough to feel dramatic, still manageable.
- 22"–26": waist. Beautiful for events and photos; needs nightly braiding and more product.
- 28"–30": hip. Full glam. Plan on real maintenance time.
Match it to your frame
If you are petite, anything past 24" will visually shorten you — 16" to 20" tends to balance best. If you are taller, longer lengths read proportional rather than heavy. For round or fuller face shapes, length past the collarbone with a middle part elongates; for long faces, a bob with a curtain fringe adds width.
Match it to your life
Be honest about styling time. Long units tangle at the nape under seatbelts, bag straps and coats. If you have a busy morning routine, a 16" body wave will get worn far more often than a stunning 30" that lives on the stand.
Still unsure?
Measure down from your hairline with a tape measure to see exactly where an inch count will land on you, and if it is your first unit, start shorter than your dream length — you can always go longer next time.
